What do you know now that you wish you knew when entering UNM?
"Yes, there are many opportunities even for a freshman" I probably would have had a better and more productive start if I knew what I could do (both in and out of school) as well as how I could achieve my academic goals more effectively.

What are your favorite events around Albuquerque?
Aside from the concerts, which you could get all over the US, I've really enjoyed some cultural parties (or fiestas) like the gatherings at the plaza in Old Town. I'm also a big fan of the Balloon Fiesta.

What were your expectations about UNM? Were these met?
Before coming to UNM I knew I would have more and better choices than I would ever find at a university back home. Just with the IFDM program alone I had a lot to look forward to. My expectations have actually been exceeded.

What surprised you the most about UNM
The UNM Art Museum in Popejoy, it's great! The variety of exhibitions is impressive. There was even an Andy Warhol Polaroid exhibition once.

The Enigma of War

This semester I took the last Honor’s class I needed in order to fulfill my designation. The title of the course promised to be a heavy subject, but after I heard the description of the course directly from the instructor, I was convinced this would be an enjoyable class for me. In the words of […]

Feels good to be heard!

The Cinematic Arts department hosted a “Listening Session” for IFDM students this week. Although at first I didn’t quite understand how the dynamic of the event would play out, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Initially, I thought it was one of those “drop in whenever you’d like, take off whenever” kind of events, and was not able to […]

Food worth celebrating

If you know me then you’ll know sometimes I like to indulge in silly food “holidays.” Apparently last Thursday was National Pizza Day, and upon learning this—after a particularly busy day at school—a pizza sounded pretty darn good! So I decided to break my streak of veggie-and-protein-filled dinners for one of my favorite go-to’s: green chile and pepperoni. […]

One week is enough, right?

So we basically have just one more week before the new semester begins. Normally I would address these thoughts with a shudder before quickly dismissing them. A student must always be in denial of their responsibilities during breaks, right? Well I find myself, once again, looking forward to the beginning of the semester. Although last […]

Election Day thoughts

You know what’s my favorite part of the electoral process here in the US? That life goes on. Election day is just like any other, except you have one additional responsibility to fulfill before the next day comes. And when that next day does come, you still continue with your life as before. Of course […]
