Happy holidays everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying their break as much as I am. As much as I am itching to be back on campus, I am definitely relishing in this break and trying to get all the fun possible out of it.

I kicked off my break with a fun trip to the River of Lights. For anyone who doesn’t know River of Lights is an Albuquerque tradition. It takes place at the Albuquerque BioPark, and the entire park is covered with lights!

There were New Mexico themed lights and even dinosaurs made out of lights! It was a wonderful time to drink hot chocolate and walk around and enjoy the scenery. Just make sure you are bundled up!

Soon after, I went back home to Carlsbad to spend the holiday season with my family. My favorite tradition is that every year we make dozens and dozens of homemade tamales. It’s a whole family effort, and totally worth it to eat tamales on Christmas Eve. Our tamales are extra special because, in addition to the masa and meat, our tamales also have green chile, cilantro, and potatoes.

I also was able to spend lots of time catching up with family and taking my dog on lots of walks. Christmas with my family is probably the best time of the year.

With only a couple weeks left of break, I am definitely going to take every opportunity to spend time with my family and friends before everything gets crazy again.

Back to school soon!
